RAYOX
LIGHTNING PROTECTION COATING
RAYOX Lightning protection systems
can protect against serious damage
RAYOX Lightning protection
costs a negligible
percentage of the total investment
RAYOX Lightning protection
may be retrofitted to existing wind turbines without having to remove the rotor blades

LIGHTNING STRIKES
ON WIND TURBINES
Lightning strikes on wind turbines can cause serious damage or even total failure, resulting in above average repair costs and downtime.
Lightning hazard of wind turbines grows roughly square with the height of the wind turbine. Depending on the location, wind turbines will sustain some 10 serious lightning strikes every year. Even for small wind turbines is statistically with a lightning strike.

POTENTIAL LIGHTNING IMPACT POINTS
Lightning Ball Method
Direct impacts were recorded in rotor blades at over 80%, the rest being distributed relatively uniformly at points of impact such as nacelle, tower wind measurement device and factory building.
Potential impact points in wind turbines can be determined by the "lightning ball method" introduced internationally and used in various standards
All surfaces, edges and points touched by the sphere represent potential impact points. Non-contact areas are impact protected within the scope of the protection class. Care must be taken that different rotor and nacelle positions are taken into account.
